Abbott is planning to divest the flu vaccine unit it acquired last year in its $6.6 billion purchase of Solvay’s pharmaceuticals business. Reportedly, the drug maker circulated marketing materials on the unit to a number of large health care companies last week, presumably including Big Pharma companies with a larger base in vaccines, such as GlaxoSmithKline and AstraZeneca.
