President Obama meets with administration officials and Democrat and Republican leaders of the House and Senate during the anticiapted bipartisan health care reform summit, where both sides will try and find some common ground to move legislation forward.
Watson Pharmaceuticals confirmed that it expects to win approval of - and then launch - a “value brand” version of the injectable iron deficiency therapy Ferrlecit in the first half of this year. However, a pair of outstanding citizen petitions filed by Watson itself some years ago have made it difficult to bring generics to market and are raising questions about prospects for FDA approval of a new “value brand.” Watson said the petitions do not present an obstacle to its plans.
In their second collaboration in two years, GlaxoSmithKline and Regulus Therapeutics, a microRNA-focused spinout of Alnylam and Isis, will collaborate on the development and commercialization of therapeutics targeting miR-122 in hepatitis C and other indications. For Regulus, the deal has a total potential value of $150 million in upfront payment plus milestones, along with potential royalties.
