Theravance may have to conduct another clinical trial to gain the nosocomial pneumonia indication for Vibativ (telavancin), which FDA approved for complicated skin and skin structure infections Sept. 11, 2009.
A little more than two years after its founding, Flexion Therapeutics is advancing its business model, announcing partnerships to in-license four clinical-stage anti-inflammatory compounds as well as a $9 million investment from Pfizer Venture Investments. The privately held company, modeled on Lilly’s Chorus division, in-licenses other companies’ drug candidates, seeking to develop them to proof-of-concept more quickly and less expensively than typically occurs in the biopharmaceutical industry.
